BMW X3 SUV - AVAILABLE IN THREE TRIM LEVELS

The xDrive 28i adds xDrive, BMW’s all-wheel drive system and a Hill Descent Control. Both models are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4 cylinder engine producing 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is impressive as well, getting 21 miles per gallon in the city and 28 mpg’s on the highway.

The “d” in the X3 xDrive 28d alludes to the efficient and powerful diesel engine lurking under the hood of this model. It has all of the same features as the “i” models, with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4 cylinder diesel engine putting out 180 horsepower and a slightly stronger 280 lb-ft of torque. While having a bit more muscle than the gas option, the 28d also burns through less fuel, getting 27 miles per gallon in the city and a stellar 34 on the highway.

The X3’s final trim level, the BMW X3 35i ups the ante with an equally turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6 cylinder engine. Its 300 horsepower output combined with 300 lb-ft of torque gives it a 0 to 60 track time of 7.8 seconds and makes it one of the quickest crossovers in its segment. Such power doesn’t drain your wallet though, with a 19 miles per gallon rating in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway. It is the perfect SUV, combining an unbeatable performance with frugal fuel consumption and looking spectacular while doing it. Each of the X3’s models are paired with a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission and are equipped with a fuel-saving automatic start/stop feature which shuts your engine off in stand-still traffic and starts it back up again when your foot releases the brake pedal.

AN SUV FOR PEACE OF MIND - FEATURES

As far as safety features go, BMW recognises that the main concern for buyers is the peace of mind of knowing that if the inevitable should happen, their family will be well-protected. On top of the standard antilock brakes and a plethora of airbags, BMW equips each of its X3’s with a wide selection of technological safety features. These features include stability and traction control and automatic brake drying for wet weather, front and rear parking sensors, an active blind spot monitor, a forward collision mitigation system with automatic braking, a lane-departure warning system and a rearview backup camera. The BMW Assist emergency communications system is also a standard across the lineup, it provides automatic crash notification and on-demand roadside assistance, so that even if something happens, you know that we have you taken care of.

The X3 SUV has received top safety reviews in both government crash testing and from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, accepting 5 stars across the board for frontal crash protection, side impact protection and overall crash protection.
