Needless to say, BMW vehicles have made its mark throughout several decades. It also helps that several movies featuring BMW cars have helped make the brand iconic. Everything from high-intensity car chases, to just pulling up in front of a fancy gala, the BMW has exuded both style and power on the silver screen. We listed down some of the most memorable appearances of BMW vehicles in recent films that prove to show the brands superstardom status.
BMW M5 in Fast & Furious 6
In the sixth installment of the most high-octane and inconsistently-named movie franchise, Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto leads the charge to capture the villainous Owen Shaw (Luke Evans). The car chase in this film features Dominic and his crew sporting several BMW M5 models to race through the streets of London against several custom-built racing karts with conveniently designed ramps for the hood. Fun fact: the M5s used in production were actually 530i and 530d models with M5 bodies since a lot of the stunt cars were destroyed during filming.
BMW i8 Concept in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol
Before its eventual consumer release in 2017, the BMW i8 electric hybrid car was first introduced as the Concept Vision Dynamics for the fourth Mission: Impossible film in 2011. Opting out of his usual running in films, Tom Cruise chases down a Russian agent with stolen nuclear launch codes on the i8 Spyder down the streets of Mumbai (don’t worry, he ran in this movie earlier during a sandstorm in Dubai). Moments earlier in the film, we first see the BMW i8 drive smoothly into the front of a palace for an undercover mission in sweet espionage style.
BMW 7 Series in The Transporter
Jason Statham’s breakout role in the movie The Transporter has made him a Hollywood action-star, along with a classic BMW 7 Series model that made one of the most memorable scenes in the film. In this particular scene, we see Jason Statham Frank Martin as the getaway driver for several men in masks. The most striking moment comes when he begins to rev the engine and launch the car right on top of a (pun 100% intended) transport trailer with other cars.
