BMW is an automotive industry icon. For decades, BMW has been the name in luxury cars. It produces a specific type of vehicle and does so with a high level of confidence in their product. Because of this, they are able to make changes, additions to their lineup, no matter how bold, and fearlessly bring new ideas into the fold. They did so over 40 years ago, with the introduction of the M series, and nearly 5 years ago with the creation of the X series. They’ve now added to that and expanded on the X Series.
The X2 is the small-sized Sports Activity Vehicle that takes the ingenuity, power, and luxury normally brought to you in one of BMW’s luxury sedans and implements them into a ruggedly athletic form. It’s the embodiment of the BMW lifestyle.
Let’s take a closer look.
How it Looks
The look of the 2018 X2 is simultaneously unique while also feeling like a part of the BMW family. It’s got a rounded body, with a sporty ambition to its accents that make the X2 look both muscular and athletic. Leading the way is the double kidney grille, flanked by a pair of wraparound lights, and the world famous BMW roundel planted in the middle of the X2’s front face. The interior is lavish, with the seating and dashboard made from premium materials, and an in-suite technology system that surpasses anything you’ve ever seen.
How it Feels
The 2018 X2 comes from the same DNA that built the BMW M series, a professional level sports racing series engineered by top engine specialists. The incoming X2 offers 228 horsepower out of a 2.0 L Inline-four engine. It’s capable of going 0-100 km in roughly 6 seconds. It’s also backed by superior BMW driving technology, such as xDrive. It’s got all the power and agility of a BMW sports sedan, with the capability of the X Series.
BMW has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to technology, and you can expect no different when the X2 arrives early next year. You can expect the new X2 to have tech such as a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and Apple CarPlay. Safety tech includes Lane-Departure warning, automatic high-beams, forward-collision warning, and low-speed automated emergency braking. That is just a preview of what it has to offer, and knowing BMW; it’ll be packed with a few interesting surprises as well.
