Thanks to the advanced on-board technology on BMW models, safety and support have never felt more personalized—and that’s especially evident with the BMW Assist system. This roadside assistance system gives you a wide range of services that help you and your passengers in the event of emergency situations, such as collisions, theft, and more. If you own a 2014 BMW model year and beyond, take a look at some of the services BMW Assist comes readily available with, below!
SOS Emergency Call
Anything can happen. All it takes is one rogue F-150 on the street to make you swerve out of its way, and leave you and your significant other flipped over on a ditch with several pearls dispersed in the interior of the vehicle. Of course, it may not always be the case, but luckily, you’ll always have assistance ready to help with BMW Assist’s Emergency Call. All you have to do is press the SOS button in your vehicle, and your location, along with other data, will be sent to the BMW Assist Response Centre where you’ll be linked to a specialist, who will coordinate a dispatch to you and have your emergency contacts notified.
Automatic Collision Notification
Additionally, the system can retrieve the vehicle’s location and vehicle information automatically, if an accident was detected. In the event that an impact, collision, or rollover are detected—and no one is available to respond to the specialist—emergency services will be contacted and sent to the vehicle’s location. However, if you do find yourself able to speak with the specialist, a second one will contact emergency services and the first will help provide reassurance during the situation.
Remote door unlock
Do you ever leave your keys inside the car by accident? Locking yourself out of your vehicle is a major inconvenience, and the last thing you need anybody to see is you trying to the pick the lock on your own BMW. Luckily, all you have to do is contact BMW Assist, toll-free, and provide them with your name and a password, to have the response specialist send a signal to your BMW and have it unlocked remotely.
Stolen vehicle recovery
Speaking of stolen BMWs, BMW Assist also has intuitive services that help you retrieve your car in the event somebody successfully picks the lock on yours. After you file a police report, just call the BMW Assist Response Centre and your BMW Assist system will remotely activate to locate your vehicle, so the police can retrieve it for you. Of course, you do have the option to retrieve it yourself John Wick-style, but we wouldn’t recommend it over safety concerns.
These were some of the services you get with the BMW Assist system on your vehicle. If you happen to own a 2013 BMW model year or older, you can contact us at Edmonton BMW to inquire about adding the 6NL BMW Assist with Extended Bluetooth option!
