In the good old days, you had to notice speed signs on the side of the road and then adjust your speed accordingly, all by yourself! Thanks to BMW, we’re now living in a new age where the Speed Limit Assistant will do all that for you. That’s right, the BMW system will analyze speed limit signs on the side of the road and automatically adjust your cruise control settings to that speed! Edmonton BMW will help educate you on this dynamic system, a worthy entrant into the BMW technology lineup, a long line of forward-thinking.
How to Turn on the Speed Limit Assistant?
Under Operating System 7, it’s easy to link up the speed limit information with Active Cruise Control for your benefit. To access the Speed Limit Assistant functionality, follows these steps on your display screen:
- Driver Assistance
- Speed Assistance
- Notes on Speed Limits
- Adjust Automatically
How to Use the Speed Limit Assistant
Once you’re in this automatic mode, speed signs on the side of the road will be automatically captured by the onboard system. Speed limit information is then adopted by the cruise control system, adjusting your cruise control system to the demands of the road you’re on. Where available, map data will look ahead and adjust for changes in speed before you even get to the area. Note, that the “SET” button on your steering wheel controls will switch the speed back to the previous set speed. To make sure all these systems are turned on and enabled, verify that there’s a green display for these functions in the instrument cluster.
