Programming a New Key from The Beginning

  • Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to position 1 and back rapidly 5 times
  • Next remove the key completely
  • Press and hold the unlock button and then press the BMW logo 3 times
  • Release the unlock button
  • Turn the ignition on to complete the process

Programming More Than One Key

  • Make sure to have the working BMW key with you
  • Take all the keys that need to be programmed
  • Come inside the vehicle and make sure doors and windows are closed
  • Put the key into the ignition and turn to position 1
  • The dash lights should turn on
  • Turn the key back and remove it
  • Pick up the working key and hold down the unlock button and press the BMW logo 3 times
  • Release the unlock button. The doors should automatically unlock.
  • Take the key you inserted in step 4 and hold down the unlock button while pressing the BMW logo 3 times.
  • Release the unlock button. All done!
