LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR POWERFUL BMW ENGINES

BMW is known for its rich heritage in engine manufacturing. Inside each vehicle, you can feel the history of BMW's innovative performance technologies from the moment you turn the key in the ignition. It revs with aggression and yet manages to drive with control. It's a feeling that's indescribable.

Today, BMW continues that same tradition while actively lowering emissions and fuel consumption with the Efficient Dynamics strategy for its engines. Experience this winning combination behind the wheel of any BMW model at our Edmonton dealership.

BMW TWINPOWER TURBO PETROL ENGINES

One of the most economical and low-emission engines on the market, the BMW TwinPower Turbo line of petrol engines has garnered the "Engine of the Year" award on multiple occasions. Available in 3, 4, and 6-cylinder configurations, this year's iteration of the TwinPower Turbo petrol engines are more efficient and dynamic than ever before, combining the latest injection technology and Valvetronic fully variable valve control alongside innovative turbo technology. The result? An engine that's as powerful as it is efficient-the performance you would expect from a BMW.

BMW TWINPOWER TURBO DIESEL ENGINES

In the same vein as its petrol counterparts, the diesel line of BMW TwinPower Turbo engines deliver the same combination of power and efficient driving dynamics. Additionally, what sets the diesel model apart is its ability to emit low emissions, consume less fuel, and produce the least amount of friction possible on the engine. The diesel's power units, along with the engine's light aluminium build and fuel injection technology, help contribute to making this engine's impressive power.

BMW EDRIVE

The BMW eDrive technology is the company's innovative foray into creating sustainable electric power for its vehicles. The technology combines an electric motor, lithium-ion battery, and intelligent energy management for impressive, agile, and efficient driving. For short and medium distances, the electric motor is capable of driving with a maximum range of approximately 30 kilometres before switching back to the TwinPower Turbo engine. Meanwhile, the lithium-ion high-performance battery works with the cooling system to keep the battery at optimum temperature and increase output and service life. Lastly, the intelligent energy management system optimizes both the performance of the electric motor and the battery, conserving power to travel further distances. You can find the eDrive technology on BMW's iPerformance line of plug-in hybrid vehicles.
